CSA Share

CSA, or Community Supported Agriculture, is a way for community members to become "shareholders" in our farm. Shares are sold before the start of the growing season, giving us the ability to cover our upfront costs. Shareholders then pick up a hand-picked box of fresh vegetables each week of the growing season. This is a great way to connect directly with the farm and experience the many seasonal changes that a diversified vegetable farm has to offer. Your share may look very green in the spring, with lettuce, kale, or peas, but change drastically in taste and color once tomato season comes along!

2025 Summer CSA Share FAQs

Where do I pick up my share?

CSA share pick ups will be on the farm at 123 Franklin Street in Rochester. You can choose between two pick-up days: Wednesdays from 4 to 6pm OR Fridays from 2-4pm. Your pick up day and time will be the same each week throughout the season.

**Three Ponds Community Members: your delivery will be on Fridays. â€‹

When is the CSA season?

The season is 17 weeks long, starting the week of June 2nd and continuing through the week of September 22nd.

[Keep an eye out for Fall CSA share sign-ups for the month of October. They will become available during the summer season, once we can see how our fall crops are performing.]

What's in a weekly share?

There is no "typical" weekly share with our CSA! We are growing over 50 varieties of vegetables and hope to provide our CSA members with an exciting box of veggies each week, changing in flavors, textures, colors and crop types throughout the season. In early weeks, the share may contain items such as greens, radishes, turnips, spinach and peas. Later in the season, you will see cucumbers, zucchinis, tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, carrots and more. Check out below to see what we grow during the season.

We offer a large and small CSA share option. A large share is perfect for a group of 3 or more eaters, or for the true veggie lover who wants enough vegetables to eat for the whole week! A small share is perfect for 1-2 people or for anyone who wants to try out seasonal vegetables in their diet, but may get overwhelmed with a full crisper drawer in their fridge. We aim to include 7-10 different vegetables in each large share and 4-7 different vegetables in each small share.

You will also receive a weekly newsletter with each share. The newsletter will include tips and tricks for storage and preparing your vegetables, including weekly recipes!

What vegetables do you grow?

We are a diversified vegetable farm, so we work hard to provide you with a wide variety of vegetables. With a CSA share, Farmers and Members together ride the wave of variability within a growing season- the highs and the lows. Some crops may be prolific and others may fail for one reason or another. Growing a diversity of vegetables allows us to better handle these ebbs and flows and still create a bountiful box for you each week. We try to incorporate a bit of each crop that we grow into your share at some point in the season.

What if I miss a pick-up?

If you can't make it for a pick-up, you may have a friend or someone else pick up your share for you instead. We can also donate your share that week to the local food pantry. Just let us know! If you accidentally forget to pick-up your share, we will hold it for you until the next day.

What is the cost of a share?

Large shares are $600 and small shares are $400 for the 17-week long season.

How can I pay for my share?

You will receive an email once you sign up for a share that will include links to our acceptable forms of payment. We appreciate payments in the form of checks or cash, but do also accept Venmo and PayPal if needed. We offer payment plans if you are unable to make the large deposit up front. If you would like to pay with SNAP/EBT, please email us at sam@nerdyturnipfarm.com for more information. Please reach out if you are struggling to afford the share- we want to make our food accessible to our community members.
